The House of Refuge foundation

The House of Refuge foundation started in the autumn of 2003. The goal of this foundation is to give financial support to a children’s home in Manila (the Philippines) In Manila, as in many places in the world, everyday life has become an everyday struggle for most of its population. We were distressed to see the misery of so many people, especially the miserable condition of life of many children. Manila has a population of about 14million, 1,5million of who are children who go out on the streets everyday to somehow find food and earn money. At the end of the day, about 75000 of them do not have a house to go back to. They sleep under bridges, or in cardboard boxes, like they do every night. Most of these kids have been disowned by their parents, have been abused and will sooner or later turn criminal. Most of these kids are not even 10 years old. They should live a normal life, in which they are loved, go to school, have a warm bed to sleep in and have enough to eat. This is exactly the reason that the children’s home ‘House of Refuge’ was built. It opened her doors in 1991 and it has room for 35 boys and girls.

On this site we would like to tell you about the lives of these children, and provide information about the foundation.

The goal of the House of Refuge foundation is to raise money to help them with their daily necessities as well as other projects, like maintenance costs etcetera. The House of Refuge Foundation is a registered non-profit organization located in Soesterberg, Holland. We will make sure that all of your donations will be invested in the children’s home.
